This is one of the world’s last unspoilt wilderness areas . A country with natural parks and vast private game reserves of fenceless territory that allows huge herds of game to roam freely. The breath-taking dramatic landscapes from the Kalahari's desert , the wet sanctuary of the Okavango Delta's lush waterways, the shimmering white salt pans at the Makgadikgadi Pans and the largest Elephants heards at Chobe national park make Botswana a must visit destination. Visitors can enjoy uncrowded access to remote and unspoiled wilderness.
Its biggest draw card is undoubtedly the wetland sanctuary of the Okavango Delta, the largest inland delta in the world. Here you’re assured of excellent game viewing all year round. The Moremi Wildlife Reserve on the eastern fringe of the Delta is a patch straight out of heaven with lily-covered wetlands, grass plains and lush forests, where an incredible variety of animals and birds make their home. The Savute area covers almost 5 000 square kilometres in the south west of the Chobe National Park and is considered one of the best wildlife viewing areas in Africa, with particular reference to its fantastic predator populations. Animals are present during all seasons and, at certain times of the year, their numbers can be staggering! Another noted area in the far southern corner of the Chobe National Park, the Linyanti ‘paradise’. Covering an area of almost 900 square km, with a short strip of swampy river frontage, the area is reminiscent of the Delta’s waterways. Wildlife is plentiful, especially in the dry winter months when great concentrations of elephant, buffalo and zebra congregate along the river.
If you’re fascinated by elephant, you’ll find the majestic beasts in huge numbers in the Chobe National Park. Take a sunset cruise and marvel at so many of them them congregated at the water’s edge. From here too, you can easily spend the day exploring nearby Victoria Falls.
Across in Botswana’s eastern corner lies the Tuli enclave, a diverse wilderness of savannah, riverine forests, marshland, open plains and sandstone outcrops. Here you can experience game on foot, horseback or on a cycling tour.
